Although I have only lived in LA for a short 9 months, I have really grown to love the city. John and I have made it a point to venture out and experience what LA has to offer! Although we have only scratched the surface, I feel like there has been a lot we have checked out. It is hard to ignore the gorgeous weather each weekend and I am so lucky to live in a place where there are endless places to go, and things do, experience, see and be seen. Today, I wanted to share with you three of my very favorite hot spots in this awesome city.
As you have read on my blog, the Farmer's Market in our Brentwood neighborhood is my Sunday ritual. John and I have mastered the art of planning what foods we will need for the week ahead, and know which vendors are our favorites. Sometimes we splurge on fresh hummus or a loaf of sourdough; but for the most part, we stick to the goods: peppers, onions, tomatoes, berries, asparagus, kale, romaine and arugula. My favorite part is at the end of gathering our groceries, when I use our leftover cash to scoop up some gorgeous fresh flowers. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I will usually share how gorgeous one of my $5 bouquets are! We have also had our fair share of celebrity sightings at the Market... so I know it is definitely a fun place to be. I am so lucky to have access to so many fresh fruits and veggies on a weekly basis!
The reason I chose this beach as one of my favorites is that it is exactly 2.5 miles east of my apartment. It is north of Santa Monica Beach and Pier, which can get really crowded with tourists. It is just south of Malibu, which is a perfect in-between spot. Parking is always a bit easier, and the beach is so clean. John and I will take a blanket on Sunday night, spread out and have some wine while watching the sunset. This beach is one of the reasons I pinch myself every day. I love living in a place where I have access to such beautiful views and the vast ocean.
This is my favorite neighborhood spot to meet for drinks during happy hour, or have a romantic date night with John. We can walk to it, which makes this place our favorite local hot spot. The drinks are fabulous (they have a margarita recipe to die for) and the wine list is extensive. The menu changes with the seasons, and I love all of the healthy, yet delicious options available. What is so great about Tavern is that it is like three places in one! The Larder is the bakery area, where you can pick up ready-to-go food like sandwiches, cheese, or freshly baked goods. Then there is the bar area, perfect for happy hour or casual dining. The most romantic area is the dining room (or atrium), which I love because of the high glass ceilings. What more could you want from a local restaurant?! The Tavern is the spot to be!
Honey by Marc Jacobs is a sunny delicious floral – energetic and alluring, with a sparkling, golden touch. The perfect mix of brightness and warmth. The fragrance energizes with the freshness of green pear brightened with a splash of fruity punch and juicy mandarin. At the heart of the fragrance is orange blossom, a note of sparkling femininity that mingles with nectars of honeysuckle and peach. Honey, vanilla, and smooth woods dry down to a warm, golden base.
